West Coast Trail - 21.-27.7.2007 Day 1

West Coast Trail...another one of my dreams comes true!

Lan was the only person that was brave enough to join me on that trip...we started from Vancouver on friday after work, took the ferry over to Vancouver Island, stayed in Sidney at my friend's place over night and then drove out to Port Renfrew into the wilderness on Saturday morning. We had breakfast at Tim Hortons in Victoria and bought some last things on the way. That's why we got a late start...we started the trail at 2:30pm.

the only way to get to the trailhead is with a boat which is operated by a local guy from port renfrew...and just as we headed out to the boat the rain started...

west coast trail here we come!

I've heard so many stories about this trail...all kinds of myths...yeah and now finally I can make my own picture of it! We also got our first experience of wet and slippery ladders.
We knew the first 2-3 days will be difficult hiking with lots of up and down thorugh the forest...and the rain didn't make it any easier! we hiked untill 8pm and then we set up the tent in the middle of the forest...both of us wet down to the skin.
