Cross Country Skiing Cypress Mountain - 20.1.2007

Another day on the mountains...

...this time with Benedict, Lan and me.

Benedict was our teacher

He taught us how to do Cross Country Skiing with the Skate style.

Here you can see Lan improving her skills. It looks so much easier than it was in the end, Ben was very patient with us and we had a good time out there in the Winter Wonderland on Cypress Mountain.

Cypress Mountain is the biggest Ski Area here on the "City-Mountains"


we made sure to be on the peak when the sun goes down. and it was worth the waiting, great sunset!

I arrived at the ski area around 8:30am, they just started the lifts

here I made my way through the backcountry

yeah and finaly I can use my sunglasses again...pure sunshine!

Snow on the local mountains... - 4.1.2007 (updated 7.1.07)

This is esspecially for my friends in Europe...I´ve heard you guys don´t have enough snow for skiing...
We here in BC can´t complain!

Mount Seymour has 349cm snow, that´s the mountain where I did the 2 day snowshoe tour over new year

Cypress Mountain has 363cm snow

Grouse Mountain has 360cm snow

and in Whistler we has 303cm snow (picture is Mount Seymour)

Overnight Snowshoe Tour Mount Seymour IV - New Years Eve - 31.12.2006-1.1.2007

8am, I just got up...it was snowing like crazy, overnight we received a new load of awesome snow...about 30cm

and the wind was blowing very strong

the visibility was also very poor

around 5pm it got dark...

...and cold...

right where we had our "house" we could watch the city and all the lights


around 7pm it started to snow
