Weekly Market in Ulm - 28.2.2009

This morning I had the chance to spent some time on the weekly market which is held on the square in front of the Cathedral of Ulm. Not a big market...but still an impressive location. The tower of the church is 162 metres high, actually the worlds highest church tower from that time period.

it´s hard to take a picture of the market and the whole tower...

NO bargaining in germany! ;-)

Idar Oberstein - 20.2.2009

I spent some time visiting a good friend of mine in the middle of Germany, the area is called Pfalz. While I waited for my friend to pick me up I used the time to explore Idar-Oberstein, a few years back it has been a important place for the mineral industry.

the old town is still pretty, nestled between some hills

another "attraction" of this town is the church that is built into the rock.
unfortunately I didn´t take any pics during the time with my friend Esther...maybe next time!

Winter impressions - 18.2.2009

Just a few pictures of winter in Germany, the pictures were taken outside the village where my parents live in south west Germany...

Skiing Damuels - Austria - 9.-12.2.2009

semester break! some of my fellow students and me rented a cabin in the austrian alps.

on the first day the weather was great and we could go skiing

second day it we had a snow storm and most of the lifts were closed...so instead of skiing we built a snow bar...

on our third day we were able to ski some awesome deep fresh powder, after that we spent some time in a aprés ski bar before heading back to our cabin

at the cabbin we had a great time dancing, playing card games and talking to each other. here on this picture we dance the twister dance...on the benches
